Useful Sidebar Gadgets
June 29, 2009
If you are using Windows Vista, this might be for you.

I didn’t use the sidebar much until a couple of days ago when I decided to search for gadgets just for the fun of it. And the sidebar proved to be pretty useful.
Don’t get me wrong, the round white clock is good, but not entirely helpful at all. Seriously, who’d minimize all their windows to look at it and check the time when you can see just fine using the .. um, non-analog numbers thing at the bottom right corner.
I’ve kept the Notes gadget just for fun, and replace the rest with Twitter, Windows Media Player and Facebook gadgets.
That explains why I have been more active on Twitter lately. The whole service itself is about short updates on the go. What’s the point if you have to go to the website and log in and yada yada yada..? The gadget refreshes itself once a while and shows updates from your friends, too. (Search for Twitter Chirpr on Gadgets window)
WMP plays all the songs you have in your music library without the need to open WMP itself.
Facebook gadget … doesn’t do much really. Basic stuff like updates from your friends, changing status, number of messages and friend requests … but I only use the status function.
